The Benefits of Using a Mood Tracker

There are many different kinds of trackers you can have in your bullet journal or planner, but one of the most popular trackers is a mood tracker.

Here are some benefits of creating a mood tracker:

Promotes Good Habit Building

The act of tracking is a habit itself, and it is a good and easy habit to build. For any type of tracker, taking the time to sit down every night and reflect on what you did or didn’t do, how you felt, etc can tell you a lot about your life. It can tell you where you can grow, and areas that might need change.

Builds Emotional Intelligence and Maturity

The number one reason for a mood tracker, is to understand your emotions. Before I started tracking my moods, I really had no idea what was going on in my mind. We go through our days feeling a spectrum of different emotions but don’t acknowledge or even respect them. A mood tracker forces you to stop and think about how you felt during the day and recognize those feelings. Doing that can help with so many aspects of your life! It can improve your overall wellbeing, communication skills, and your relationships.

I’ve even noticed that throughout the day when I’m experience a strong emotion, I will stop and think about it and name that feeling, because I know I have to track it later.

Can Help You Solve Problems

Going off of reason #2, a mood tracker can help you solve problems in your life. Our emotions are a part of our life and always will be, and once you start recognizing them you can use that to your advantage. Maybe your mood tracker is telling you that you’ve been anxious the past few weeks. Was there a certain event that caused it? Are you not sticking to your routine, or does your routine need to change?

Or the opposite, your mood tracker shows you’ve been really happy this week, what did you do this week that made you feel this way? Do more of that.

You Will Have a Beautiful Spread Once You are Finished!

This is a benefit of any spread, but once you have filled out your mood tracker for the month, year, whatever, you will have a wonderful spread to look at. It will feel really good to check off or color in every square, because honoring your moods is an elite form of self care.
